Simple Documents - WP01

General Description

Learn how and when to use Word. Create, save and make changes to documents while getting familiar with the Microsoft Word program. Build skills and confidence in working with the tools at your disposal to make life easier when it comes to word processing.

Target Audience

This session is intended for participants with little or no knowledge of Microsoft Word.

Pre-requisites

Participants should have an understanding of using a computer including working with Windows, using a mouse, accessing the menus and file management.

  • Identify common Word screen components
  • Select Menu commands using mouse and keyboard
  • Create a document from a template
  • Type text into a document
  • Check the spelling and grammar of a document
  • Use the thesaurus
  • Use shortcut keys to move around a document
  • Select text using the keyboard and mouse
  • Edit text within a document
  • Use cut, copy and paste
  • Correctly use Save, Save As, Open and Close functions
  • Use Print Preview
  • Print a document
  • Open multiple documents and work with them by copying and cutting text between documents
  • Create labels and envelopes
