Workplace Training

Skillgate Learning Centres has 16 years of experience in helping organisations to determine their training needs, developing measurable outcomes, preparing learning materials, delivering training and assessing outcomes. We believe that training should be prepared and delivered to meet your specific requirements so please call us and discuss your specific training needs with our training consultant.

Skillgate Learning Centres is skilled in preparing and administering both skills audits and training needs analysis.  We have the theoretical framework and knowledge required to develop and administer appropriate audit and survey tools.  In the past we have worked with clients in developing and administering these audits using paper based surveys and  tele-surveys, as well as both classroom and online competency testing.  In conjunction with clients, we have also analysed the results of these audits.

Skillgate Learning Centres embrace the philosophy of Lifelong Learning. We seek to deliver skills development solutions that consist of small flexible modules with a task based orientation allowing people to train in small chunks, as required, on an ongoing basis. This approach assists individuals and organisations in increasing knowledge and skills while providing access to this learning in 'smaller' and 'at any time' or 'just in time' portions. Developed and delivered in line with adult learning principles, where possible, learning is mapped to nationally recognised competencies.

The philosophy behind all of Skillgate's skills development solutions is to provide concepts, theory, and generic cross platform skills, rather than just teaching operational processes. With computer applications training, We endeavour to assist each participant to build a solid intuitive understanding of the applications, assisting them to become more independent and confident in the ongoing process of upgrading their IT skills.

In line with our philosophy of lifelong learning, Skillgate believes that adult learners need to see the whole picture as well as the various component parts.  Thus Skillgate believes it is difficult and indeed counter-productive to separate concepts, theories and principles from the task of operating computer software.

Where possible and appropriate, we use a participative approach and a task based framework to deliver skills.  General concepts and efficient work techniques are explored and learners are encouraged to draw on their existing experience in developing case studies and solving problems.

Determining appropriate content is as essential as selecting an effective delivery methodology.  Skillgate has extensive experience in working with business and industry to understand the skills requirements of individual teams.
